Henry Baldree of Vero Beach, Fla. is North Carolina’s latest big Powerball winner after claiming a $150,000 prize.

In Wednesday’s drawing, Baldree beat odds of 1 in 913,129 as the numbers from his lucky Quick Pick ticket matched four of the white balls and the red Powerball. That match carries a $50,000 prize, but because Baldree paid an extra $1 for the Power Play option his prize tripled when the 3X multiplier was drawn.

Baldree, who lives part of the year in Brevard in Transylvania County, received his after-tax winnings of $103,875 Monday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh.

He purchased the lucky ticket at the Speedway on Dickinson Avenue in Greenville.

The Powerball jackpot has grown to an annuity of $222 million or $151.5 million cash. The next chance to win is Wednesday.

Ticket sales from games like Powerball made it possible for the lottery to raise more than half a billion dollars for the state last year.
