RALEIGH – North Carolina Mega Millions players are taking aim Tuesday night at the fourth largest jackpot in the game’s history. It stands at $390 million annuity worth $265.4 million cash.

The jackpot has not been this large since March 2014.

“We would love to have our seventh multimillion dollar jackpot winner,” said executive director Alice Garland. “While it’s fun to play for prizes of this size, we always like to remind folks it only takes one ticket to have a chance to win.”

Two tickets sold in North Carolina for recent drawings were just the Mega Ball away from winning the jackpot – and won $1 million each.

One seven-figure prize came Friday night. The winning ticket was purchased at the SM Mart on Poplar Tent Road in Concord. The other $1 million prize, won in the June 10 drawing, was claimed by four coworkers who bought a lucky ticket at the Kangaroo Express on Castle Hayne Road in Wilmington.

Ticket sales help the lottery raise on average $1.4 million a day for education. To see how lottery funds have made a difference in each of the state’s 100 counties, visit the “For Education” page on the lottery’s website.
