William Hill Jr. of Gastonia is the latest player to beat the odds of 1 in 749,398 to win a Cash 5 jackpot.

Hill won $124,696 in the drawing on June 5.

He claimed his prize Wednesday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After federal and state tax withholdings, he took home $86,352.

He bought the winning Quick Pick ticket at the Ingco Express on Lowell Bethesda Road in Gastonia.

Ticket sales from games like Cash 5 made it possible for the lottery to raise more than half a billion dollars for the state last year. For details on how almost $88.6 million in lottery funds has made a difference in Gaston County, click on the “For Education” section of the lottery’s website.
