Robert and Edna Sullivan of Williamston are taking their eleven grandkids to Disney after winning a $267,050 Cash 5 jackpot.

“We always promised them if we won big we’d take them,” Edna said.

Robert picked the numbers for Wednesday’s drawing using a combination of family birthdays. They turned out to be lucky and he beat the odds of 1 in 749,398 to win the jackpot.

“We’re just excited,” Robert said. “It’s a blessing.”

When Robert told his wife they won she couldn’t believe it.

“I thought I was going to have a heart attack,” Edna said. “I told him it better not be a joke.”

Robert and Edna claimed their prize Friday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After federal and state tax withholdings, they received $184,932.
Robert bought the $1 Cash 5 ticket at the Duck Thru Food Store on West 5th Street in Washington.

Ticket sales from games like Cash 5 made it possible for the lottery to raise more than $600 million for the state last year. For details on how more than $10.4 million in lottery funds has made a difference in Martin County, click on the “For Education” section of the lottery’s website.
