It’s been all smiles and some dancing for Tina Rahming of Shelby after she won $150,000 playing the $500 Cash scratch-off game on Saturday.

Feeling lucky, Rahming stopped by Super Dave’s Quick Stop on Earl Road in Shelby and bought two $5 tickets.

When Rahming realized one of her tickets was a $150,000 winner, she immediately hid it in her shoe before rushing to her fiancé, Larry Hogue.

Hogue, a manager at the Golden Corral in Shelby, did not know what was going on when his fiancé danced her way into the store, shouting for joy.

“She ran around in a couple of circles screaming,” Hogue said. “People kept asking, ‘What’s wrong with you?’ And then she started dancing. Did the two-step right in the store!”

“I just couldn’t help it,” said Rahming recalling the moment. “I was happy!”

The excitement continued Monday as Rahming claimed her prize at lottery headquarters in Raleigh, with her family by her side. After federal and state tax withholdings, she received a check for $104,065. Rahming said she plans on using the money to pay off her house, buy a car, and donate to her church.

Two top prizes remain to be claimed.

Ticket sales from games like $500 Cash made it possible for the lottery to raise more than $634 million for the state last year. For details on how more than $45.6 million in lottery funds have made a difference in Cleveland County, click on the “For Education” section of the lottery’s website.
