Richard Pietrowski of Monroe had luck on his side when he won a $313,594 Cash 5 jackpot.
He beat odds of one in 749,398 to win the Sept. 16 drawing.
Pietrowski used his own numbers, and bought a $1 ticket at the Circle K on Weddington Road in Monroe.
He claimed his prize Wednesday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required state and federal tax withholdings, Pietrowski took home $209,124.
