Kenneth Fraizer of Graham said he’s looking forward to a good night’s sleep after he won a $1 million lottery prize.

“I was bouncing off the walls,” Fraizer said. “I’ve had a couple of sleepless nights I was so excited.”

Fraizer’s good fortune happened Wednesday when he bought a 10th Anniversary Millions ticket at the Circus Food Store on East Main Street in Graham. He took the $10 ticket to the parking lot and started to scratch.

“I don’t even know how to describe it,” Fraizer said. “I felt this adrenaline rush all the way to my feet. I couldn’t speak. I went right back into the store to scan my ticket.”

Fraizer claimed his prize Friday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. He had the choice of taking a $1 million annuity that has 20 payments of $50,000 a year or a lump sum of $600,000. He chose the lump sum. After required state and federal tax withholdings, he took home $417,009. He plans to use some of the money to pay off his mortgage.

10th Anniversary Millions launched in April 2016 with four top prizes of $1 million. Fraizer won the last top prize, which means the lottery is taking steps to end the game.

Ticket sales from games like 10th Anniversary Millions make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $600 million a year for education.
