Onslow County man wins $200,000 lottery prize

James Forhan of Jacksonville is the latest person to win a $200,000 Mega Fortune top prize.

He bought the $5 scratch-off ticket at the Circle K on Lejeune Boulevard in Jacksonville.

He claimed his prize Thursday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required state and federal tax withholdings, he took home $139,003. He plans to use some of the money to pay bills.

Mega Fortune launched in December 2016 with five top prizes of $200,000. Two top prizes remain.

Ticket sales from games like Mega Fortune made it possible for the lottery to raise more than $634 million for the state last year. For details on how lottery funds have made a difference in Onslow County, click on the “For Education” section of the lottery’s website.
