Jacob Szymkowicz of Kannapolis is the first person to win a $200,000 top prize in the new Cash Vault scratch-off game.

The Cabarrus County man bought the lucky $5 ticket at the QuikTrip on Dale Earnhardt Boulevard in Kannapolis.

He claimed his prize Thursday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required state and federal tax withholdings, he took home $141,003.

Cash Vault launched earlier this month with five top prizes of $200,000. Four top prizes remain to be claimed.

Ticket sales from instant games like Cash Vault make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $600 million a year for education.
