After winning a $50,000 Powerball prize three days before her wedding, Genia Harrell of Vanceboro is celebrating her one-year-anniversary with a second lottery win.
“It’s crazy,” Harrell said. “It’s unbelievable. I didn’t’ think it would happen again.”
Harrell won her first prize in October of 2018. Just over a year later, she won $5,000 in the Lottery’s October Lucke-Rewards drawing. Harrell found out she won when she read the official winner notification email from the lottery.
“I had to read it about four time before it set in,” Harrell said. “At first I thought it was just telling me that I had a chance to win, but when I realized it said I won again, I couldn’t believe it.”
She immediately called her husband to share the good news.
“He was really excited,” Harrell said. “Winning twice like this is incredible. It’s almost like it’s a sign that our marriage was meant to be.”
Harrell claimed her prize Monday at the lottery claim center in Greenville.
Harrell used the money from her first prize to pay for their honeymoon to Charleston. S.C.. This time, she said she’s going to use the money to make Christmas something they’ll both remember.
Congratulations!
