Teressa Williams of Forest City tried her luck on a Holiday Luck X50 ticket and became the first winner of a $150,000 top prize.

Williams purchased her winning $5 ticket from Debs Mini Mart on Oakland Road in Spindale.

She claimed her prize Monday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required federal and state tax withholdings, she took home $106,126.

Holiday Luck X50 launched this month with three top prizes of $150,000. Two top prizes remain to be won.

Ticket sales from scratch-offs make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $725 million per year for education. For details on how $3.6 million raised by the lottery made a difference in Rutherford County in 2019, visit www.nclottery.com and click on the “Impact” section.
