Shanta Cooks of Jacksonville tried her luck on a $5 Lucky 7 Bonus scratch-off and won a $200,000 top prize.

Cooks bought her Lucky 7 Bonus ticket at the Circle K on New Bern Highway in Jacksonville.

Cooks claimed her prize at lottery headquarters in Raleigh on Monday. After state and federal tax withholdings, she took home $141,501.

Ticket sales from scratch-offs make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $700 million per year for education. For details on how $11.6 million raised by the lottery made a difference in Onslow County last year, visit www.nclottery.com and click on the “Impact” section.
