Anthony Talladira’s belief that one day his five lucky numbers would pay off came true on Aug. 25 when he won a $110,000 Cash 5 jackpot.

“Seven dollars for seven tickets every Friday,” said Talladira as he collected his prize Monday. “After all that time, it finally paid off. It finally won out. It’s a blessing.”

He bought his Cash 5 ticket at the Murphy USA on Blowing Rock Boulevard in Lenoir. After required federal and state tax withholdings, he took home $75,273.

Cash 5 tickets are $1 with drawings held every night. Tuesday’s jackpot is $169,000. The odds of winning a Cash 5 jackpot are 1 in 962,598.

Cash 5 is one of four lottery games in North Carolina where players have the option of buying their tickets through Online Play either through the lottery’s website or with the NC Lottery Official Mobile App.

Ticket sales from draw games such as Cash 5 make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $900 million a year for education.

A $15 million grant, using money raised by the lottery, helped Caldwell County build the new Granite Falls Middle School. For details on other ways Caldwell County benefits from lottery funds, visit www.nclottery.com and click on the “Impact” section.
