John Agnew of Kernersville became the first $100,000 prize winner in the new Ultimate 7’s scratch-off game.

Agnew purchased his winning $20 ticket from the Fleming Family Fare on Fleming Road in Greensboro.

He claimed his prize Monday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh and took home $70,756 after required federal and state tax withholdings.

Ultimate 7’s launched this month with four top prizes of $2 million and eight $100,000 prizes. Four top prizes and seven $100,000 prizes remain to be won.

Ticket sales from scratch-off games like Ultimate 7’s make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $725 million a year for education. For details on how $32 million raised by the lottery made a difference in Guilford County last year, visit www.nclottery.com and click on the “Impact” section.
