The Mega Millions jackpot is on the rise and players in North Carolina have the chance to win $402 million annuity, worth $272.1 million cash, in Tuesday night’s drawing.

“We’d love to see a player from North Carolina bring home the jackpot,” said Mark Michalko, executive director of the N.C. Education Lottery. “Remember if you do try there are nine ways to win. Besides the jackpot, you also could win prizes ranging from $2 to $5 million.”

The odds of winning a Mega Millions jackpot are 1 in 302.5 million. Since North Carolina joined the game, two North Carolinians have won jackpots.

The Powerball jackpot is also climbing. Wednesday’s Powerball drawing brings North Carolinians a chance to win $168 million as an annuity or $117 million cash. The odds of winning a Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.

Players can buy $2 Mega Millions or Powerball tickets at any lottery retail location, through Online Play on the lottery’s website, www.nclottery.com, or by using the NC Lottery Official Mobile App.

Ticket sales from Mega Millions and Powerball games make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $725 million a year for education. For details on how lottery funds have made a difference in all of North Carolina’s 100 counties, click on the “Impact” section of the lottery’s website.
