Valerie Logiudice of Horse Shoe couldn’t believe her eyes when her $5 Fast Play ticket won her a $137,141 jackpot prize.

On Tuesday evening, she purchased her winning Fast Play ticket for the 20X The Cash game from Mr. Pete’s Market on Brevard Road in Etowah.

Sitting at home later that night, Logiudice pulled out her ticket to see what she won.

“I looked at that ticket for about a half hour,” she recalled. “I was really shocked.”

Logiudice claimed her prize Wednesday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh and took home $97,028 after required federal and state tax withholdings.

She plans to use her prize money to pay off bills.

Logiudice’s jackpot win is the third for a $5 20X The Cash ticket since it launched in April. The odds of winning a Fast Play jackpot are 1 in 240,000. A $5 ticket receives 50% of the jackpot amount.

Fast Play’s rolling, progressive jackpot increases with every ticket sold until it is won.

Printed on each Fast Play ticket is the amount of the jackpot when the ticket is sold and how much of that jackpot the ticket could win. Players can also win instant cash prizes on their Fast Play tickets.

Ticket sales from games like Fast Play make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $900 million per year for education. For details on how $5.4 million raised by the lottery made a difference in Henderson County in 2020, visit www.nclottery.com and click on the “Impact” section.
