Nicole Riley and Susan Edmondson of Raleigh teamed up to try their luck on a Cash 5 ticket and split a $1,993,227 jackpot.

The friends purchased their Quick Pick ticket for the May 29 drawing using Online Play through the NC Lottery Official Mobile App.

The $1.9 million May 29 jackpot won by Riley and Edmondson is the second highest jackpot in the game’s history. The highest jackpot, $2.1 million, was won on April 19 by Timiaya Ellison of Charlotte and Nadia Belhaj of Charlotte.

Riley and Edmondson claimed their prize Friday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh.

They split the jackpot amount receiving $996,614 each. After the required federal and state tax withholdings, Riley and Edmondson each took home $705,104.

Carolina Cash 5 tickets are $1 and drawings are held every night. Tuesday’s jackpot is $166,000. The odds of winning a Cash 5 jackpot are 1 in 962,598.

Cash 5 is one of four lottery games in North Carolina where players have the option of buying their tickets through Online Play either through the lottery’s website or with the NC Lottery Official Mobile App.
