Sylvia Hall of Trinity became the first winner of a $100,000 prize in the new Grand Money game.

She purchased her winning $20 ticket from the Sheetz on Finch Farm Road in Trinity.

Hall claimed her prize Thursday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh and took home $70,756 after required federal and state tax withholdings.

Grand Money launched in September with four top prizes of $2 million and six $100,000 prizes. Four top prizes and five $100,000 prizes remain to be won.

Ticket sales from scratch-off games like Grand Money make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $900 million a year for education. For details on how $8.2 million raised by the lottery made a difference in Randolph County last year, visit www.nclottery.com and click on the “Impact” section.
