Ve’Cara Lipscomb of Blanch tried her luck on a $5 scratch-off and won a $200,000 prize.

Lipscomb bought her lucky Bonus Bucks ticket from Westside Shell on U.S. 158 West in Yanceyville where she is an employee. She claimed her prize Thursday and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $142,021.

Ticket sales from scratch-off games make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $2.5 million a day on average for education. A $15 million grant, using money raised by the lottery, helped Caswell County build the brand new Bartlett Yancey Senior High School.
