Armie Riddick of Raleigh tried his luck on a $20 scratch-off ticket and won the first $100,000 prize in a new lottery game.

Riddick bought his lucky 100X The Cash ticket from Hwy 64 Mart on New Bern Avenue in Raleigh. He claimed his prize at lottery headquarters Monday and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $71,256.

The 100X The Cash game debuted in December with five $2 million prizes and 10 $100,000 prizes. Four $2 million top prizes and nine $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed.

Ticket sales from scratch-offs make it possible for the lottery to raise $2.5 million a day on average for education. For details on how $64.1 million raised by the lottery made a difference in Wake County last year, visit and click on the “Impact” section.
