A quick stop for dinner and a lottery purchase led Kevin Prast of Huntersville to a $100,000 scratch-off win.

“I walked in for chicken and walked out with lobster,” he laughed. “Not a bad day.”

Prast said he initially did not plan to stop but decided to grab something for dinner at the last second.

“It was just a fluke thing,” he said. “It happened on a whim.”

He bought his lucky $10 Million Spectacular ticket from the Food Lion on Mount Holly-Huntersville Road in Charlotte.

“You hear about this but you don’t ever think it’s going to happen to you,” he said.

Prast arrived at lottery headquarters Friday to claim his prize and, after required federal and state tax withholdings, took home $71,514.

He plans to use his winnings to take a vacation to a tropical island.

The $10 Million Spectacular game debuted in December with five top prizes of $10 million, 20 prizes of $1 million and 20 prizes of $100,000. Five $10 million prizes, 15 $1 million prizes and 17 $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed.
