The Mega Millions jackpot keeps growing as it reached $425 million for Tuesday’s drawing.

A winner tonight would have the choice of taking home the $425 million jackpot as an annuity or $202 million in cash.

“What a tough choice that would be for a lucky North Carolinian to choose between the $425 million annuity or the $202 million lump sum,” said Mark Michalko, executive director of the N.C. Education Lottery. “We are all hoping we get a big winner here tonight who gets to make that big decision.”

Even though the jackpot remains up for grabs, one lucky $2 ticket in North Carolina matched four white balls and the yellow Mega Ball to win $10,000 in Friday’s drawing. The ticket was purchased at the Circle K on Cliffdale Road in Fayetteville. The odds of that win are 1 in 931,000.

Another chance to win big this week occurs Wednesday when the Powerball drawing offers a $285 million jackpot as an annuity or $137.7 million in cash.

The odds of winning a Mega Millions jackpot are 1 in 302 million. The odds of winning a Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.

Players can buy Mega Millions or Powerball tickets at any lottery retail location or through Online Play on the lottery’s website, www.nclottery.com, or with the NC Lottery Official Mobile App.
