While waiting to head to a car repair shop, Andrzej Kielbon of Matthews scored a $379,747 jackpot.
“I was getting ready to go to the dealership,” Kielbon recalled. “I woke up a little too early. I would’ve never played if I didn’t get up early.”
Kielbon played a $2 ticket on Thursday and won an ‘Epic jackpot’ in the Bison Bonanza game, a digital instant game featuring a progressive jackpot that can be won at any time. The odds of that win are 1 in 15.5 million.
“I just play for fun,” Kielbon said. “I didn’t think it was real because I was still half asleep.”
He claimed his prize at lottery headquarters Friday and, after required federal and state tax withholdings, took home $271,520.
Kielbon plans to replace his old car with a new, electric vehicle and take a trip to Hawaii.
In the Bison Bonanza digital instant game, a player can play from 50 cents to $30. After Kielbon won the jackpot, it restarted at $50,000 and had grown over $113,000 as of Monday morning.
Digital instant games are played exclusively online on the lottery’s website or on the NC Lottery Official Mobile App. Twenty-seven different games are available to play online now.
