Karen Hamby of Hudson tried her luck on a digital instant game and won a $307,493 jackpot.
Hamby played a $.50 ticket on Sept. 7 and won the top level ‘Epic jackpot’ in the Wheel of Bonuses game, a digital instant game featuring a progressive jackpot that can be won at any time. The odds of that win are 1 in 62 million.
In the Wheel of Bonuses game, a player can play from $.50 to $30. After Hamby won the jackpot, it restarted at $50,000 and has grown to over $445,000 as of Tuesday morning.
Hamby claimed her prize Monday at lottery headquarters and, after required federal and state tax withholdings, took home $219,858.
Digital instant games are played exclusively online on the lottery’s website or on the NC Lottery Official Mobile App. Twenty-eight different games are available to play online now.
A $15 million grant, using money raised by the lottery, helped Caldwell County build the new Granite Falls Middle School. For details on other ways Caldwell County benefits from lottery funds, visit www.nclottery.com and click on the “Impact” section.
