Andrew Stock of Durham can celebrate again after winning a $120,000 Cash 5 jackpot in the Jan. 10 drawing, his second big lottery win.
Stock previously won $141,109 playing Cash 5 in August of 2021.
“We are just lucky I guess,” Stock laughed. “It’s just a numbers game.”
Stock said he likes to play digital instants at night and he used a few dollars that he won to buy his $1 Quick Pick ticket using Online Play. His ticket matched all five numbers to win the jackpot. The odds of that win are 1 in 962,598.
“For some reason I just got a feeling that I won,” Stock recalled. “Then I woke up in the morning and saw that I did win.”
He claimed his prize on Tuesday at lottery headquarters and, after required federal and state tax withholdings, took home $86,100.
Stock plans to use his winnings to invest in his retirement.
Cash 5 is one of six lottery games in North Carolina where players have the option of buying their tickets at a retail location or with Online Play through the lottery’s website or the NC Lottery Official Mobile App. Wednesday’s jackpot is $100,000.
