Boby Geevarughese of Cary will receive $25,000 every year for the rest of his life after he got lucky playing Lucky for Life.
“I’m going to look at buying a small home,” he said.
Geevarughese bought his lucky $2 ticket using Online Play. He won his prize by matching all five white balls in the Oct. 10 drawing. The odds of winning that prize are 1 in 1.8 million.
When Geevarughese arrived at lottery headquarters Friday, he had a decision to make. He could choose to receive $25,000 a year for the rest of his life or a $390,000 lump sum. He chose the annuity and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $17,938 on his first $25,000 payment.
