Wardell Void of Raleigh took a chance on a $1 Cash 5 ticket and won a $347,251 jackpot.

Void bought his lucky ticket for Thursday’s drawing from Best Buy Grocery on Old Stage Road in Raleigh. Void was one of three players who matched all five numbers in the drawing, so he received a third of the $1,041,753 jackpot. The odds of matching all five balls are 1 in 962,598.

He claimed his prize Friday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh, and, after federal and state tax withholdings, he took home $249,149.

A Smithfield woman who purchased her winning ticket at a 365 Store on East Anderson Street in Selma claimed her share of the jackpot on Friday. The third lucky ticket was purchased at a Sheetz on Portertown Road in Greenville. Winners have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prize.

Cash 5 is one of six lottery games in North Carolina where players have the option of buying tickets at a retail location or with Online Play through the lottery’s website or the NC Lottery Official Mobile App. Monday’s jackpot is $130,000.
