Christopher Lunsford of Chapel Hill had a hard time believing that he won the $100,000 top prize in a second-chance drawing on Wednesday.

“It’s so overwhelming I don’t know what to even say,” he said.

Lunsford found out he won his prize in the third and final Money Rush Second Chance drawings when he got a phone call from the lottery. There were over 7.7 million entries in the drawing.

“Never in my life did I expect something like this,” Lunsford said.

He arrived at lottery headquarters Thursday to collect his prize and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $70,582.

“This is a big change in my life,” he said. “It still hasn’t hit me yet.”

Lunsford plans to use his winnings to give to his church and potentially buy a home.

Players got a second chance with their Money Rush scratch-offs by scanning them into their lottery accounts where they were automatically entered into the drawing. The final drawing offered one top prize of $100,000, 10 $10,000 prizes, and 15 winners of $5,000.
