Sibyl Ackin of Fayetteville had a tough time believing her luck on Sunday when she won a $200,000 scratch-off prize.
“I was like, “Pinch me,’” she recalled. “It was shocking.”
Ackin purchased her lucky $5 Mega Bucks ticket from the Circle K on McArthur Road in Fayetteville. She wanted to share the news of her big win right away.
“I told everybody,” she laughed. “I called my aunt first.”
Ackin collected her prize at lottery headquarters on Monday and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $143,501.
“Now it feels real,” Ackin said after she received her big check.
She plans to use her winnings to give to her church and take a family trip to Florida.
Mega Bucks debuted in August 2024 with nine $200,000 top prizes. Four $200,000 prizes remain to be claimed.
