Bradley Groseclose of Raleigh looked in disbelief three times at his $10 scratch-off after uncovering a $1 million prize on it.

“I did a triple take to make sure it was right,” he laughed.

Groseclose bought his lucky 50X The Cash ticket from the Food Lion on Eaton Ferry Road in Littleton. He immediately called his wife to share the big news.

“I called her and asked if she was standing up,” he recalled. “I told her to sit down before I told her what happened.”

When Groseclose arrived at lottery headquarters Thursday to claim his prize, he had a decision to make. He could choose to receive his prize as an annuity of $50,000 over 20 years or a lump sum of $600,000. He chose the lump sum of $600,000 and, after required tax withholdings, took home $430,503.

“This came at the perfect time,” Groseclose said.

He plans to use his winnings to renovate his home.

The 50X The Cash game debuted in February with six top prizes of $1 million. Two $1 million prizes remain to be claimed.
