David Walston of Pinehurst took a chance on a $20 scratch-off and won a $100,000 prize.
Walston bought his lucky Ruby Red 7's ticket from the Shop N Save on N.C. 211 East in Candor.
He arrived at lottery headquarters Tuesday to claim his prize and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $71,756.
The Ruby Red 7's game debuted this month with three $2 million top prizes and nine $100,000 prizes. Three $2 million prizes and seven $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed.
