Kaci Souders of Cerro Gordo took a chance on a $5 scratch-off and won a $150,000 top prize.
Souders bought her lucky Loteria Grande ticket from Tiger Mart on Andrew Jackson Highway in Cerro Gordo.
She arrived at lottery headquarters Wednesday to claim her prize and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $108,016.
The Loteria Grande game debuted in August with five $150,000 top prizes. Three $150,000 prizes remain to be claimed.
The state provided over $67 million in grants, using money raised by the lottery, to help Columbus County with school construction needs. For details on other ways Columbus County benefits from lottery funds, visit www.nclottery.com and click on the “Impact” section.
