Danny Reed of Fairview tried his luck on a $30 scratch-off and won the first $100,000 prize in a new lottery game.

Reed bought his lucky 200X The Cash ticket from Kounty Line-Reynolds on Charlotte Highway in Asheville.

He arrived Tuesday to collect his prize and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $72,018.

The 200X The Cash game debuted in November with three $5 million top prizes and six $100,000 prizes. Three $5 million prizes and five $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed.

Education programs in Buncombe County received $11.5 million in support from lottery funds last year. For details on how lottery funds have made a difference in all of North Carolina’s 100 counties, visit www.nclottery.com and click on the “Impact” section of the lottery’s website.
