Jayla Smith of Durham tried her luck on a $20 scratch-off and won a $100,000 prize.

Smith bought her lucky Ruby Red 7's ticket from Fuel Point on Oxford Outer Loop in Oxford.

She arrived at lottery headquarters Friday to claim her prize and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $72,016.

The Ruby Red 7's game debuted in August with three $2 million top prizes and nine $100,000 prizes. Two $2 million prizes and three $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed.

Education programs in Durham County received $13.6 million in support from lottery funds last year. For details on how lottery funds have made a difference in all of North Carolina’s 100 counties, visit www.nclottery.com and click on the “Impact” section of the lottery’s website.
