Thomas Horne of Richlands tried his luck on a digital instant game on Tuesday and won a $1.1 million jackpot.

Horne won the top level “Grand Fortune” jackpot on a $30 play in the Monopoly game. The digital instant game features a progressive jackpot that can be won at any time. The odds of that win were 1 in 1.6 million.

He claimed his prize Thursday at lottery headquarters and, after required federal and state tax withholdings, took home $805,597.

After the big win, the jackpot reset at $150,000 and has climbed to over $247,000 as of Friday morning.

Digital instant games are played exclusively online on the lottery’s website or on the NC Lottery Official Mobile App. Sixty-eight different games are available to play online now.

Education programs in Onslow County received $12.5 million in support from lottery funds last year. For details on how lottery funds have made a difference in all of North Carolina’s 100 counties, visit www.nclottery.com and click on the “Impact” section of the lottery’s website.
