Mashielly Caputo of Salisbury long wondered what it would be like to win a big lottery prize and now she knows after a digital instant play on Friday won her a $200,000 jackpot.

“You always dream big but to see it become a reality is just a dream come true,” she said.

Caputo won the jackpot on a $1 play in the 20 Years Celebration game. The odds of that win were 1 in 40 million.

“I was basically in shock,” Caputo recalled. “It was a very good Friday.”

She claimed her prize Wednesday at lottery headquarters and, after required federal and state tax withholdings, took home $144,020.

Caputo said she plans to use her winnings to buy a house.

In the 20 Years Celebration digital instant game, a player can play from 50 cents to $20. Digital instant games are played exclusively online on the lottery’s website or on the NC Lottery Official Mobile App. Seventy-one different games are available to play online now.

Education programs in Rowan County received $7.7 million in support from lottery funds last year. For details on how lottery funds have made a difference in all of North Carolina’s 100 counties, visit www.nclottery.com and click on the “Impact” section of the lottery’s website.
