Angie Forrest of Rockwell took a chance on a $30 scratch-off and won a $100,000 prize.
Forrest bought her lucky Carolina Black Premier ticket from the Murphy USA on Dale Earnhardt Boulevard in Kannapolis.
She arrived at lottery headquarters Thursday to claim her prize and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $72,018.
The Carolina Black Premier game debuted in July 2025 with three $4 million top prizes and six $100,000 prizes. Two $4 million prizes and two $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed.
Education programs in Rowan County received $7.7 million in support from lottery funds last year. For details on how lottery funds have made a difference in all of North Carolina’s 100 counties, visit www.nclottery.com and click on the “Impact” section of the lottery’s website.
