The Powerball jackpot shows no signs of slowing down as Monday’s $905 million prize ranks as the eighth largest in the game’s history.
A winner in tonight’s drawing would have the choice of taking home the $905 million jackpot as an annuity or $391.9 million in cash.
“This has been quite a run for Powerball which means big wins for lottery players and big wins for education in the state,” said Mark Michalko, chief executive officer of the N.C. Education Lottery. “Hopefully the big wins continue tonight with a jackpot win in North Carolina.”
The current Powerball run has raised over an estimated $16.7 million for education in North Carolina.
As the jackpot continues to grow, North Carolinians are taking home other nice prizes too. For the fourth consecutive drawing, a ticket in North Carolina won at least $50,000. Saturday’s Powerball drawing saw two big wins for North Carolinians:
• A lucky $2 ticket matched four white balls and the Powerball to win a $50,000 prize. The winning ticket came from Carlton’s Tanglewood on Clemmons Road in Clemmons.
• Another lucky $2 ticket matched four white balls and the Powerball to win a $50,000 prize. That winning ticket came from the Food Lion on Poplar Tent Road in Concord.
The odds of winning a Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.
