The Powerball jackpot just reached another milestone as Wednesday’s $786 million prize ranks as the ninth largest in the game’s history.

A winner in tonight’s drawing would have the choice of taking home the $786 million jackpot as an annuity or $341.6 million in cash.

“Any time a Powerball jackpot reaches the top 10, that is sure to get players’ attention,” said Mark Michalko, chief executive officer of the N.C. Education Lottery. “We have seen some big wins in North Carolina recently and we would love to see a jackpot in the Tar Heel State this week.”

As the jackpot continues to grow, North Carolinians are taking home other nice prizes. Monday’s Powerball drawing saw a lucky $2 ticket match four white balls and the Powerball to win a $50,000 prize. The winning ticket came from Gas Center on North College Road in Wilmington.

The odds of winning a Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.

Players can buy Powerball tickets at any lottery retail location or through Online Play on the lottery’s website, www.nclottery.com, or with the NC Lottery Official Mobile App.
