Before we move on to this week’s big winners, we have to talk about the Powerball jackpot. It stands at an estimated $148 million for Saturday’s drawing with Friday’s Mega Millions jackpot is estimated at $48 million. We wish all our North Carolina players the best of luck becoming our sixth major jackpot winner!
So, we start this week’s big winner rewind with a really big win in a really small town in the Sandhills of North Carolina. Wesley and Jeanette Skinner are among the 4,000 or so people who live in Elizabethtown. You might have read the unique story of how they came to find out they won a $300,632 Cash 5 jackpot – the largest lottery prize in Bladen County history.
From down east, you might take highway 74 to drive to Charlotte where another interesting thing happened. A store clerk suggested that Jacqueline Hernandez try her luck on an instant game instead of her usual Pick 3 ticket. Hernandez gave it a shot, and scratched off the top prize of $125,000 on a Casino Cash ticket.
Zigzagging back to east of Raleigh, a couple from Clayton said they planned to save for their children’s college education after winning $100,000 playing a Wheel of Fortune scratch-off game. William Locklear said he chose the ticket based on the number of the dispenser it was in – because it matched one of his favorite Powerball numbers.
Speaking of Powerball, a $50,000 prize went to an Apex player for Wednesday’s drawing. A player from Arapahoe won $30,000 playing Powerball in the drawing a week before, on October 12. We are still waiting to find out who won $10,000 Powerball prizes on tickets sold in Richmond and Gastonia for the Saturday, Oct. 15 draw.
Also still unknown are the ticketholders of two Cash 5 tickets that won $30,256 each in Wednesday’s drawing. They were sold at the Country Cupboard in Mount Airy and the Wilco on Highway 70 in Clayton.
Among major scratch-off wins, players from Hendersonville and Nebo collected $50,000 playing Junior Big Ol’ Bucks and Diamond Mine. A $20,000 Royal Riches prize went to a Charlotte player. At the $10,000 prize level, players from Clinton, Burlington, Castle Hayne, Jarvisburg and Sims all cashed in this week.
We’ll wrap up this week’s rewind by looking forward to the season of holiday games which began Tuesday with $100,000 Treasure Tree, Silver Bells and Holiday Green. This has become a popular tradition we hope will continue to add some holiday cheer this year. We also hope everyone has a great weekend, and see you next week here in the Lucke-Zone.

just something concerning the cash 5 if your not gonna increase the payout at all levels and at least start prize money at 100k how about this option.
do like the mega mill and powerball for a extra buck you can powerplay and it will increase the prize by what ever the powerplay ball is that awy you can charge 2 per ticket and in the future start the prize monet at 100k.
you think the lottery can and will get some self serve ticket machines people would play more and lines wouldnt be long and also some ticket scanners to check the before we go to a clerk would be helpful
