Jackpot game tickets win big over holiday weekend

Over the holiday weekend, the lucky game in our state was North Carolina’s jackpot game,Carolina Cash 5. Two tickets matched all five numbers in Saturday’s drawing to win $128,895 each. They were sold at the Quality Mart on West Plaza in Mooresville and at the Wilco on Oleander Drive in Wilmington.

Another ticket – this one sold at Circus Food Store #6 on Wake Forest Highway in Durham – hit the $50,000 jackpot in Sunday’s drawing. The odds of matching all five numbers to win the Cash 5 jackpot are one in 575,757.

Powerball was good to North Carolina players on Saturday night as well. One of two $10,000-winning tickets was sold in Rowan County at the Gas N Go Food and Beverage store on South Salisbury Avenue in Granite Quarry. The other $10,000 prize was won on a ticket sold at Weeksville Grocery on Salem Church Road in Elizabeth City.

In all, N.C. Powerball players won a total of $134,515 on 21,390 winning tickets in Saturday’s drawing. We advise winners to sign the back of their ticket immediately, but remind them they have 180 days from the date of a drawing to claim prizes.

The jackpot for our third jackpot game, Mega Millions, has rolled to an estimated $64 million for Tuesday’s drawing. There has not been a “perfect ticket” to match all six numbers since the Nov. 1 drawing.

Yep, $215.5 million is a nice chunk of change in winnings from the meck. area. Just seems as though the past two to three years i have noticed the odds have become tougher to win prizes higher than 25 on many 10 dollar games. If you have ticket numbers between 0 and 6, 10-16 and 20-26 you normally win something and the larger prizes are the 10-16 variety...there is a system and theory for winning i believe. would love to win big one day! :) Luck...That's all.. :)

@ ICELENE - We've had three Powerball jackpot winners in North Carolina, and *33* more Powerball tickets sold in North Carolina have won $1 million on five-number matches.

I'm talking big scratch off's like the million dollars, and millions in the powerball/mega millions,none of these wins are too signifigant to me! but thanks for researching!or any of the draws the lottery conducts, all are Raleigh/Charlotte..ect..ANYWAYS, guess if we wanna win BIG, we should go out of town to buy our tickets!

Ok this is going around and I think its true. And it more less tells me why no one in NC has won the power ball. I heard it would be very unlikely anyone in NC would win the power ball. Why because the NC lottery and other States with the NC lottery get more of the money if someone in a nother State won Why 1-- If someone in another States won there would be 2 States that got tax money from it. The winner would have to pay NC taxes and their States taxes. Makes me say it time to stop playing because I will never win Man we get dump on You might win a little .are once in the blue moon someone will hit 5 number ,But can anyone recall any one in NC hiting it BIG NO!!!!!!!

@ SHERRY - Here's some info for you about winners from your area: we've had six instant wins of $5000+ to Alexander County this year, four of which went to Taylorsville winners. Two Cash 5 jackpots have gone to Alexander County players since the lottery started, one of which went to a Taylorsville player in November of last year for $137,256. In the last five years, five Alexander County players (two from Taylorsville) have won big Powerball prizes, including a $200,000 win to a Taylorsville player.

I still can't understand why the small towns, like Taylorsville, NC don't get any BIG WINNING scratch off tickets,or any of the jackpot Mega Millions or Powerball tickets sold here, I guess we don't rate!!

@ GIZMO - Mecklenburg players have won a lot of lottery prizes, thanks to the fact that so many people live and play in Charlotte. From 3/30/06-6/30/11, Mecklenburg players won more than $215.5 million in prizes!
