$500,000 jackpot could mean 3rd largest Cash 5 win of 2011

Folks across North Carolina have their eye on the Cash 5 jackpot. Now estimated at $502,000 for Monday’s drawing, a single-ticket jackpot winner would be the third largest Cash 5 jackpot prize amount won in 2011. It has been rolling since a Richmond County man won $232,246 on August 19. The current jackpot run could ultimately lead to an individual win that surpasses a Charlotte player’s $773,609 prize claimed in April to earn the top spot.

Cash 5 players have won big prizes on split jackpots this year as well. Back in March, players with winning tickets from Bertie and Iredell Counties split a $580,290 jackpot. Then in May, the biggest jackpot in Cash 5 history – $1.35 million – was split between three tickets won by a pair of Greensboro players and a player from Lincoln County.

NC and VA ARE two separate states - so rules, laws times WILL be different - but if you're info is up to date with LuckE - check you're emails after 3 or 4 a.m. each (early) morn.(/nite)--the numbers WILL be there JUST for you...Patience is a virtue! WOW..,what a big cash5 win for a lucky person. i have bought tickets before in maxton,plenty of times. i go mainly on fridays. but my turn will be coming soon.congrats to the winner...

@ NCDEADHEAD The NCEL doesn't have a "super 7" package coming out in September. It's possible that a retailer is bundling games together that can be purchased all at one time, but the price would be the same as buying them individually. Maybe you can give us some more info about this so we could be more specific. Where did you hear about a Super 7 package?

@ CCW - Just as with the drawing results themselves, we have a series of procedures that have to be followed before the store locations that sold winning tickets are announced. Whoever has a winning ticket, of course, could know before we announce it by checking their numbers! As soon as we get the details on where last night's jackpot ticket was sold, we will announce it on Twitter first and then in a blog entry here on the Lucke-Zone sometime today, hopefully this morning.

Why don't NCEL post the winning location if there is a winner in the big games as the drawing results are posted? Anyway, I had me a few tickets for last night cash5 and had three numbers. Well I will be playing powerball tonight. I would like to see te dollar prize for the cash5 eliminated and split with the third and fourth prizes. @ BORN - Again, we can't speak to how things are done in VA. We do things as promptly as possible, but speed is not our number one goal. Doing everything according to procedure and certifying the results before they're announced has to be our priority. We respect your choice to play or not play in NC.

Why does it take so long for the winning numbers to be posted? The Va. Lottery had you beat by 30 minutes tonight. This is not a well maintained website. It`s not that far to Va. from where I live, and that`s where I`m playing the numbers from now on.

Top 3 Cash 5 wins ever are.. 3) $731,836 claimed on 12/14/06 by winner from Southport in Brunswick County.. 2) $773,609 claimed on 4/25/11 by winner from Charlotte.. 1) $856,998 claimed on 11/18/07 by winner from Greenville in Pitt County... as you read in the blog, the Cash 5 jackpot has been bigger than that before, but those are the three largest invidivual wins in the history of the game. Wow i wish i could win me and my mama worry would be over and we could get a lot paid up, losing my job has really hurt us but i don't think my luck is that good but i wish it was really don't know if i don't play

Yes, I understand that it's for entertainment and I do set aside money but sometimes I over spend. Maybe, I just hasn't reached that lucky steet yet. I think the money is just placed in one particular area. I was venting my opinion. Thanks for the input.

@ RGARRIS - We've paid out billions in prizes, so while there's a fair chance to win, there's no guarantee of winning. We remind everyone to play with money set aside for entertainment, not money needed for bills or other important financial needs. Good Luck to the people who's playing because everytime I play I lose all of my money. Never in my life have I seen anything of such nature. I have been playing big since the lottery came out and never really won anything worth winning ust gave my money away, maybe that's why I'm in such hardship now and I just wondering can I ask for a refund (lol) real funy.
