Players win big on ‘Carolina’ draw games

Let’s rewind the week’s biggest winners.

Jumping Jackpots? A Durham woman told us that she and her husband started jumping for joy when she realized she'd won a $104,472 jackpot playing Cash 5. What would you do first if you won a jackpot prize? Friday's jackpot is estimated at $230,000.

Record broken this week: The record for the largest Pick 4 payout was set again, for the second time in less than a month. ‘Quad’ 3’s paid out $1.85 million Monday afternoon, eclipsing the $1.8 million players won in the August 17 drawing on 'Quad' 9's.

‘Trips’ pay out $2.3 million: Pick 3 players saw a $2.3 million payout for last Friday’s evening drawing on ‘trip’ 2’s, which pushed total prizes for the game to more than $4 million this week.

Truck driver picks up $100,000 payload: “I scratched it off and saw the star,” Clarence Harding said. “I thought I had won enough for gas money. Then I kept seeing those zeroes. I just sat there and looked at the ticket. It took a half hour to convince myself it was real.”

Scratch-off players collect $10.5 million: In addition to Harding's $100,000 win, a Mocksville player won $50,000 on Jumbo Bucks, and a $30,000 Blackout Bingo win went to an Elon player. Instant wins of $5,000 to $20,000 were claimed by players from Autryville, Fayetteville, Wake Forest, Durham, New Bern and Zirconia.

Five Powerball players claim $10,000 wins: folks from Waynesville, Raleigh, High Point – and two winners from Hendersonville – all collected $10,000 prizes playing Powerball. After a ticket sold in Georgia matched all six numbers on Wednesday night, Saturday’s jackpot resets to $20 million.

We finish up this week’s wrap up with Mega Millions: Winners from Badin and Enfield picked up $10,000 each as tonight’s jackpot is estimated at $65 million. North Carolina has had one Mega Millions jackpot winner to go with our three Powerball jackpot winners; will we add a fifth jackpot winner this weekend? Best of luck, North Carolina!

TonyA&Bkearney220,I agree with you both.I've been playing and tracking every since day one.People have to remember on the pick numbers,their are all loaded into a computer,not saying any wrong is going on,but we know you can just about anything with a computer.Also don't spend needed money,the odds are not in your favor.

@ BKEARNEY220 - Almost every day, we remind players that lottery games are for entertainment and money that is needed for bills or other neccessities shouldnt be spent playing the lottery. As for Mega Millions, the odds of winning it all or winning a big prize aren't especially likely; lottery games can only offer the chance to win, never the guarantee of winning

@ SNOOPY - Here are some of those details you asked about for Thomasville/Davidson County: We've had 76 instant winners of $5,000 or more from Davidson County, 10 so far this year, including $1 million and $500,000 wins that went to players from Lexington. Of those 76 wins, 41 went to players from Thomasville, four of which were this year. The amounts were $15,000 on Money Multiplier, $5,000 on $200,000 a Year for Life, $30,000 on Bingo, and $10,000 on Cash Spectacular. Thomasville has had five wins of $100,000 or more, including a $1 million win on Cash Spectacular that was claimed last summer.

The lottery ought to include a coupon for a free $1 ticket in those mass produced coupon mailers. When I lived in a different state - they did that for a few years, then it stopped.

Get you a wall size map of NC.Mark your winning areas for a couple months and you can see for yourself where the winners are.You don't need these people to tell you anything.This is their jobs.They tell you what they are told to tell you.
