Mega Millions players have their eyes on Friday’s $86 million jackpot. It has been rolling for over a month since a “perfect ticket” won $32 million in the August 19 drawing. If it rolls to next Tuesday, the jackpot is estimated to reach $96 million and could surpass the $100 million mark.
Those are exciting possibilities. But the reality for one Mega Millions player from Nash County is a $250,000 win. Ray Charles Lassiter, a maintenance technician from Nashville, N.C., played numbers based on family birthdays to win the quarter million prize. His Mega Millions win is the third this year to a Nash County resident of $250,000 or more. Earlier this year, players from Rocky Mount won $250,000 and $1 million prizes. Another Mega Millions player from Greensboro won $10,000 in Tuesday’s drawing, bringing the total prizes paid to $338,479 on 11,396 winning tickets.
Another Greensboro player, Carolyn Watlington, claimed her share of a Cash 5 jackpot, worth $130,642. “It’s a great feeling,” she added. “You just can’t imagine. It’s actually me this time, not somebody I’m reading about.”
A $304,672 Cash 5 jackpot went to a Winston-Salem man who plans to use his winnings to save for retirement. “I called the hotline and I heard my numbers,” Charles Ware Jr. said. “I was at work, so I had to keep calm.”
So, what game could be considered the perfect one to win on for a resident of King, NC? How about the Royal Riches game? That's the one Nathan Roddy, who lives in King, won $20,000 playing. Wins of $10,000 went to Richard Logue of Point Harbor in Currituck County, and Michael Moses of Morganton. In all, scratch-off players won more than $10.1 million in prizes since last week’s update.
That’s your Lucke-Zone winner rewind for this week. Have a great weekend, and good luck North Carolina!
