The big news heading into the weekend is the big Mega Millions jackpot. For the first time in almost three months, it has topped $100 million to reach an estimated $113 million for Friday’s drawing. The jackpot has been rolling since August 19.
During the current jackpot run, Mega Millions players have won more than $1.1 million on tickets sold in North Carolina, including a $250,000 winner from Nash County. Seven $10,000-winning tickets, and one worth $40,000, were sold in Greensboro, Badin, Marshall, Statesville. Stores in Charlotte and Raleigh each sold two of the $10,000-winning tickets.
At $57,000 for Carolina Cash 5 and $47 million for Powerball, the other jackpots are growing as well.
The biggest winners of the week are Carolina Cash 5 players from Fayetteville and Winston-Salem who split a $234,832 jackpot. In a close third place, a Greene County woman won $100,000 instantly on a High Roller ticket.
Other big instant winners to claim recently include a Vale man who won $50,000 playing Cash Spectacular. Two players from Charlotte won $10,000 each playing $200,000 a Year for Life. Two more $10,000 wins went to players from Morganton and Greensboro who played $200 Million Extravaganza and Cash Spectacular.
In all, instant winners collected more than $10.5 million since last week’s update. Pick 3 players snared more than $2.7 million, while 21 Pick 4 tickets won the top prize of $5,000 to push weekly winnings over $600,000 for that game. Carolina Cash 5 players won more than $571,000 over the last seven days.
