Eleven big wins cashed in after Labor Day weekend

Before the sun went down Tuesday, eleven winners showed up at our regional claim centers to collect big prizes ranging from $5,000 to $219,032 after the long holiday weekend.

Players from Raleigh, Gastonia – and two from Charlotte – cashed in $5,000 wins on instant games. They played $200,000 a Year for Life, Quick Bucks, $200 Million Extravaganza and Blackout Bingo. Another instant player, Cassandra Washington of Dunn, won the top prize of $20,000 playing $20K Payday.

Four players claimed $10,000 prizes in recent drawings. Patricia Robinson of Asheville and Jherrae Phillips of Garysburg won $10,000 each playing Mega Millions, while Russell Flowers of Smithfield and Ulysses Parris of Greensboro won playing Powerball. Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot is estimated at $107 million.

A pair of six figure wins went to players from Western North Carolina. Tuesday afternoon, Melissa Hink of Old Fort became the first to win the top prize of $100,000 playing Wheel of Fortune. Last but not least, Kenneth Melton Jr. of Newland was awarded the $219,032 jackpot for the February 25 drawing of Carolina Cash 5.

Well we had a winner this morning at the coffee shop. The prize was double you money on a 5 dollor ticket. Prize was $2.00 so that made $4.00. What a JOKE. People save your money.

@ JIM243 - On the Cash 5 jackpots being split.. the odds of winning are the same for everyone, no matter where they buy a ticket or how big the jackpot is. But when the jackpots get larger, more people play and so the odds of more than one ticket matching all five numbers increase.

YUCT65, I am beginning to believe your right! I have spend probably $50 to $60 or more a week on lotto and scratch tickets since it started, the most I have ever won was $100. As soon as my current lotto tickets expire, I'm done. What amazes me, is the cash five, seems when the pot really gets large, there is 2 or more winners??? Good Luck to All.

me and my homeboy dont have a gambling problem we can buy the tickets anywhere we have a winning problem. hope to catch a nice winner soon. i play all the time i have better luck at the scratch offs.

It's all luck. I still think the lottery officials know where the big winners are going. It's bad when you buy a ten dollar ticket and get naught for it.Not even a dollar. Stop the mess.

@ MACMILLION - The Pick 3 and Pick 4 drawings work differently than the way you're describing. For Pick 3, there are three sets of balls 0-9; for Pick 4, there are four sets of balls 0-9... each digit is drawn separately, and the three- or four- digit combination is the winning number for that drawing

pick 4 and pick 3...are suppose to work like this..numbers 0-9 put into machine and tossed by the air machine to come up with a set of numbers..but it doesn't..why? How can you explain 9999? The powers that be decide what numbers go into the machine..that's why you might not see a 3 for a while.
