Cash 5 pays off big four times this week

Carolina Cash 5 paid off in a big way to players in North Carolina this week.

Tracey Smith of Greensboro and Donald Hibbets of Elizabeth City split the $365,092 jackpot from the Sept. 29 drawing.

In the Thursday, Oct. 4 drawing, two tickets matched all five numbers and split the $220,610 jackpot. The tickets were sold at the Starmount Mart on Capital Boulevard in Raleigh and at the Bizzy Bee on North Main Street in High Point. Players have 180 days from the draw date to claim their prize.

Since Thursday, Sept. 27, Carolina Cash 5 players won more than $899,000

As for scratch-off tickets, Charles Wallace II of Wilmington plans to take his wife on a honeymoon with the $100,000 he won playing the Mega Bucks game.

Here's a look at the week's prize totals for North Carolina draw games:

Pick 3 players won more than $1.6 million in prizes.
Pick 4 players won $637,000 including 23 top prizes of $5,000

Instant prizes totaling more than $11.5 million have been awarded this week. Here's a breakdown of some of the big winners:

- William Flemings of Kinston won $50,000 playing Junior Big Ol' Bucks
- Ethel Alexander of Hendersonville won $10,000 playing $5,000 a Week for Life!
- Daniel Bowen of Carolina Beach won $10,000 playing $2,500 a Week for Life!
- Sheldon Freeman of Concord won $10,000 playing $5,000 a Week for Life!
- Daniel Honeycutt of Zebulon won $10,000 playing 20X The Money
- Jeminishia Williams of Raleigh won $10,000 playing $2,500 a Week for Life!

In all, the Education Lottery awarded more than $15.1 million in prizes to players of lottery games.

The folks that think "their turn" is inevitable really do not understand how these games work. Each time you buy a new ticket you start all over with the same odds of winning each time. The chances do not reduce and make it a sure thing you are going to win eventually. One could play forever and never win a thing. There is only one sure thing about playing the lottery,,, You have NO chance of winning if you don't play! To get mad at the lottery for not winning and blame them is ridiculous, considering you are playing their game and it is all chance and luck. It is not an entitlement that one has to win at some point and you have to just wait your turn.

@ 2290 - If you are able to successfully enter a ticket for Lucke Rewards points, you can be sure it is a non-winning ticket. If Lucke Rewards won't accept your ticket, then there is reason to believe you won a prize on that ticket!

@ SHERRY - When you enter a non-winning Holiday Millions ticket, you automatically receive both Lucke Reward Points AND entry into the 2nd Chance Drawing for the chance to win $3 million! It is still up to you to choose how to use your Lucke Reward points, if you want to use 50 points to enter the Lucke Rewards Launch drawing, or keep them for future drawings :-)

I like playing the $3 games but mainly after I scratch off the 12 digit entry number only and then have a retailer scan it for me and enter the last four digits of that entry number. If I enter the entry number in the ticket entry portion of this website is there any way it would not recognize the entry as a winner?

Great! I can't wait to hit the cash 5. I have a few slips for the drawing. When are they gonna get rid of the $1 prize and make the 3 and 4 out of 5 bigger amounts? I would prefer this.

@ GOMOM46 - Wherever you play games of chance, it will always take a lot of luck to win a prize big or small. The lottery doesn't control what numbers are drawn, the drawings are 100% random.

Lost money again, just disappointed in NC Lottery, they play more twisted numbers than any other lottery I have seen. They just keep twisting old numbers around. Playing over 2 years now and have'nt won nothing big.You spend more than you will ever be paid back.
