Meet the Lucke-Rewards Launch Drawing winners

Ruby Taylor, an elementary school cafeteria worker from Marshall in Madison County, had her name selected for the $25,000 top prize in the Lucke-Rewards Launch Drawing. Taylor, who said she was “shocked” when she learned of her win, plans to use the prize to pay bills and help give her family a nice Christmas.

Shannon Henry of Wadesboro and George Rickles of Waxhaw each won $3,000 prizes in the drawing. As of Wednesday morning, the third $3,000 winner has not come forward. Winner information can be found on the Lucke-Zone by clicking on the “Lucke-Rewards” tab and then clicking on “Winners” and “View” on the drawing in question.

The Lucke-Rewards program, which launched on Oct. 1, allows players of the N.C. Education Lottery to earn points with non-winning instant tickets to enter weekly and monthly drawings for cash and other prizes. Tickets for all of the current instant games are eligible for the program. To be eligible to get points and enter drawings, players must be signed up for the Lucke-Zone.

There are lots of prizes to be won in the Lucke-Rewards drawings, including the weekly “Winning Wednesday” drawing which features a $2,500 winner. The first Wednesday drawing was held on Nov. 7. As of Wednesday morning, the winner of the $2,500 prize has not stepped forward.

The next monthly drawing, called “$25,000 Fall into Cash,” gives entrants a chance to win a $25,000 prize on the Dec. 5 drawing. The entry deadline for the drawing is Nov. 30.

Remember, in order to enter drawings, you must first enter your non-winning instant tickets on the Lucke-Rewards site found here.

is there a graph online or can you post one monthly to show what part of the region winning tickets of 1k or more are bought. i know that you have your list that you post each wk. but i think a graph will be just as helpful. happy holidays! lets try something new for 2013 that will give all of us a better view of whats going on.i hope my chances will be better next year. will not be playing as much as i did this year. lost to much money.

@ EARL2212 - Everyone has the same chance of winning regardless of where they live or play lottery games. We have winners from all different parts of the state all the time. If your perception is that players down east win more than another part of the state, ask players down east what their perception is; what you're likely to find out is that it takes a lot of luck to win no matter where you live.

@ EARL2212 - There is no such thing as a guarantee of winning when playing games of chance. The reason a person can win $1,000, $100,000, or $1 million playing a lottery game is because most tickets don't win prizes, thereby making it possible to award prizes to players who are lucky enough to win. This is the way it has always worked and will always work.. if that doesn't sound appealing to you, maybe games of chance aren't a good option for you. We wish you the best whatever you decide :-)

still buying non-winning tickets. i continue to pay for somebody else who wins. now i am using my points to pay for somebody else to win in that game as well. will there be a game that has no non-winning tickets? i think that everybody should get the money back that they put into that game. surprise us with the odds of 1/1&1/5 chance on the return.

@ EARL2212 - It was never a regular thing. The idea was that Lucke Zone members had the opportunity to participate in a specific survey during a specific time period, and they'd be entered for the chance to win a prize.

@ EARL2212 - Above all else, its important to play for entertainment.. your past experiences with winning and non-winning tickets don't affect your odds of winning in the present or future. By their very nature, the majority of tickets for a game of chance have to be non-winning tickets, thats how prize money is accumulated to pay to lucky players with winning tickets.

this is the truth. all i have bought have been non winners. i keep them ALL. i have about 3k in non winning tickets between jan - dec. each time i go to the store i end up with a non winner. and i buy ten 1 dollar 2/10, five 2ds 2/5 sometime none,no three dollars and two five dollars 1/2 most the time none not all at the same time but it seem as if the odds would be better then that so you could a lest get your money back! Please bring the drawings on tv because i don't trust what i can't see. does anybody else get a stack full of tickets and end up with nothing? (oh i mean if you don't live down east(smile)

@ TASORRELL - When any player buys a lottery ticket, it is that person's responsibility to sign and keep their ticket. Stealing is always wrong, but if a player throws away a lottery ticket, it is truly "finders keepers" - make sure you hang on to yours! :-)

There is a store right down the road from me that has a table set up for Lottery and a large trash can beside the table where people would throw away the non-winning scratch off tickets, well as soon as I learned about the drawings I asked the owner if I could come in daily and collect the tickets, and she asked why and I explained in detail about the drawings and she told me no, (wonder why? yeah right) Well now I believe the owners are keeping the tickets and entering them for themselves,when I went yesterday no tickets in trash, imagine that! they already hit big on tHe cash 5 Looks like they would give someone else a shot

Not long ago I became homeless due to a rent to own scam. I just got back on my feet to get in a place with my kids and it sure would be nice to get some help with all the debt on me. I have no desire to be labeled as a complainer by seeking clarification but I also know I run that risk. I am one of those individuals whom enter drawings and are eager to know the results. Often it is not the results but the process of reaching the results which produces a degree of anxiety among players. I understand not naming the winner until the claims process is completed. However, when I read the Winner Board and see you have established a process of alerting game participants that a drawing was conducted and the winner has notified I no longer have player anxiety,GAME OVER. Either I receive an email or I don't, no problem. But at least I know the drawing was conducted and I can move on to the excitement of playing the next game. I humbly request you consider in the future to post on the winner board by COB on the day of the drawing,"DRAWING CONDUCTED".

@ CAMILLA - After a drawing, winners are typically contacted by e-mail within 48 hours. If a winner doesn't respond to e-mail within 48 hours, phone contact is attempted. If that doesnt work the lottery sends certified mail. We understand that folks who enter drawings are eager to know the results, but there are a number of steps that must be followed before and after the drawing to ensure fairness and security. Staff from a number of different divisions work together to follow those steps appropriately.

There was only one winner for the $2500 drawing held on Wednesday 11-14-12. How hard could it be to post on the site that the winner had been contacted? There is no mention of anything. Last week by Thursday night at least that information was listed. I know you won't put the names until they have collected their winnings, but why the inconsistency? It would be nice if you at least stated the winners had been notified so we would know. Do you contact the winners the day of the drawing or the next day?
