The historic Powerball jackpot is making headlines across North Carolina, throughout the country, and around the world. At $425 million, Powerball players have never had the chance to win a larger jackpot.
As the jackpot rolled into record territory Saturday night, North Carolina Powerball players won three big prizes. A $10,000-winning ticket was sold at the Harris Teeter on Raeford Road in Fayetteville. Tickets worth $40,000 each were sold at the Raceway on North Main Street in High Point and at the Pantry on West Dixon Boulevard in Shelby.
But if you play the lottery in North Carolina, the big Powerball jackpot wasn’t the only big news over the long holiday weekend.
It started Wednesday night when “Quad 3’s” came up in the Pick 4 drawing. That led to $6.6 million in total prizes, including top prizes of $5,000 for players with 848 winning tickets. Prizes of $2,500 were won by 945 tickets.
Two Carolina Cash 5 jackpots were won in consecutive drawings starting Thanksgiving night. The winning ticket for that drawing, worth $64,030, was sold at the Wilco on N.C. 89 East in Walnut Cove in Stokes County. The ticket that won the $50,000 jackpot in Friday’s drawing was sold at the Han-Dee Hugo on East Williams Road in Apex in Wake County.
Pick 3 players with winning tickets were guaranteed to get bonus cash Saturday night. Why? Because the Green Ball Bonus Draw was down to one ball – the green ball. The bonus cash payout means players with the winning combination 1-0-9 won a total of $301,709 in the drawing. Green Ball Bonus Draws continue through Dec. 1.
Best of luck matching and scratching this week! We’ll be watching the drawings with everyone, especially Wednesday night, to see if a North Carolina Powerball player makes history.
