Statesville stores sell tickets worth $467,073 and $1 million

Two of the four tickets to win big prizes in drawings over the weekend were sold in Statesville. A Carolina Cash 5 ticket sold at Fast Phil’s on Taylorsville Road matched all five numbers Saturday night to win the $467,073 jackpot. A Powerball ticket sold at the Kangaroo Express on Safreit Road matched all five white balls to win $1 million.

Another Powerball ticket, sold in Raleigh, matched four white balls and the Powerball to win $10,000. That ticket was sold at the Dollar Man on Cross Link Road.

A Mega Millions ticket sold in Cumberland County won $30,000 in Friday’s drawing. The ticket, sold at Strickland’s on Maxwell Road in Stedman, matched four white balls and the Mega Ball. Whoever bought it added the Megaplier feature and, because the Megaplier was three, multiplied the prize amount from $10,000 to $30,000.

Winners have 180 days from the date of the drawings to collect their prizes. We’ll look forward to meeting those folks and wish you the best of luck scratching and matching!

In my response to what I won, I was reading over my husbands shoulder and didn't realize I was responding under his name,,Sort of pushed him aside ,,LOL,,, Sorry 'bout that. But we feel the same. When we have thoughts of numbers we play together sometimes, but he has had as many and more wins than I. On the 777 win I had paid that amount for lunch the day before and I felt it was going to hit.

BABA has won $1500 on the 888 last week; $2000 when the 777 hit; $1000 3 times; $500 about 6 times; $290 4 times and $330 3 times on the PICK 3. As well as $40 and $80 more than 10 times. Also won $2600 and many $100 on the pick 4. I DON'T BUY QUICK PICKS! So the fate is more in my control. I watch the digits and even though it is random, there is some patterns in the numbers. To blame the machine is sour grapes. I take responsibility for my losses and blame no one as it is not anyone else's fault if I don't choose the right numbers. Oh and BABA is short for Barbara! I'm very sad when I read of all the people frustrated with the lotto I would like to win also but you should play for fun not to pay bills pay your bills then play the odds of winning are so hugh we probably will play a lifetime and never win be smart

I have been an avid lottery players for years but must say that now i feel like some numbers are pre-determined some how. Last week i played 0560 FORTY TIMES!! It didn't come out that day but the next day it did!! :( My win would have been over $150,000. The total win for those who won playing that number the next day was $32,000. I've been bummed out about this since.

@ GORAMS15 - Legitimate lottery drawings are the same everywhere. If you see a "pattern" in one state compared to another, its not likely to continue in the future. Because its not really a pattern, its just random results playing out over time. Its always a matter of pure luck.

I buy alot of quick picks on all games and my winnings have been nothing. Its so frustrating for me to see how NC keeps playing the same numbers, they just twist them around. I checked other states they don't repeat as bad as NC. This means the same people are winning because their numbers keep coming up. I have played almost 3 years now and I am not progressing any. Baba can say what he wants, maybe he would like to tell how much hes winning. Maybe NC needs a better machine.

Those suggesting a certain area "share the wealth" or winners should be evenly spread across the state have no concept of how the lottery works. The lottery does not select your numbers to win. When you buy a ticket you are predicting what numbers will result in the drawing for that game. So if the folks in a certain area are not winning, it is their fault for not picking the right numbers. It is not the fault of the lottery!

Sometimes we're anticipating follow-up questions! Whether or not someone bought a QP ticket is something that is sometimes asked of winners, but not something that is always an interesting part of the winner's story as far as what is reported.

I didn't say that playing QP increased the chance of winning. I just stated that I am curious and would like to know when someone wins the jackpot, if they chose their numbers or won with computer generated numbers.

Listen up lucke-zone members: I finally won on the MEGA MILLIONS last night!!!!! Needed one number to win all 5 right, missed it by 0ne. Missed the mega ball by one also. But I did have 4 numbers right to win 150.00 dollars. I Did not power up on the ticket. If I would have, I could have 600.00 dollars to spend.My birthday is on the 16th, so me and the wife are going out to eat and buy us something. Already bought Christmas for my grandkids, and daughters and their husbands. So this is all ours to enjoy! This is the first time I have won this much on a MEGA MILLIONS ticket. Wish I could have had all 5 FOR 250,000, but I know now it's coming, maybe tonights POWERBALL. If I should win tonight's drawing, will be sure to let you all know... I'm happy I have got most of my winning's back from playing the lottery, still have alot to win, before I get paid back all the money I have spent on Playing the lottery. also, when it comes to scratch off games, i too often wonder how the cities/areas are selected for jackpot tickets...ie..by humans, computers, completely random, patterns, etc....it seems to be a big mystery, and little is said about it. to me, there is more room there for someone to raise an eyebrow. i live in wake forest, and have seen or heard about only 1 or 2 jackpot winners, from wake forest, in the past 6 plus years or so, not a lot if you ask me, and i dont remember hearing much about big scratch off winners in raleigh area either, come to think of it. the million dollar tickets all seem to be off in other parts of the state. i wonder if there is a list avail...upon request, that shows all winning jackpot tickets, and the cities they were sold in....from the beg. of nc lottery, is this is avail...if so, please advise as to why or why it isnt.

when it comes to drawing games, there is little if any way the lottery or any of the affiliates, could cheat in anyway...and no, most winners do not come from raleigh area, thats absurd, do your homework and youll see that most winners are not from raleigh and surrounding areas. further if you feel the games are rigged, why would you play them...i think its more that you havent won, and therefore want to blame someone, when the only one to blame is dumb luck, take it up with the lady.....ladyluck, that is.

@ HORSEGRL - Quick Pick vs. choosing the numbers makes no difference in the chances of winning. Approximately 3 in 4 draw game tickets played are Quick Pick tickets, and about 3 in 4 winning tickets are Quick Pick tickets. That doesn't mean a Quick Pick is more likely to win, its in proportion to the number of tickets that are played that way.

I would like to see the NC lottery report if the winners won with qick pick numbers or chose the winning numbers for large cash amounts like: winning the jackpot of Cash 5. I understand how how Maybaby feels that large winners seem to be in the middle to the western part of the state. I am curious if more wins are from QP or player choosen numbers. @ MAYBABY - Statesville is halfway between Charlotte and Winston-Salem, which is not near Raleigh. North Carolina's multimillion dollar jackpot winners have been from: Halifax County (which is along I-95), Cleveland County (southwest NC), Buncombe County (mountains), Guilford County (triad area), and Pitt County (Eastern NC). We have winners from all different parts of the states every day. Everyone has the same chance to win, its all a matter of luck.

Raleigh always have the big winners, and how is it possible that two big winners are in the same little town. What's wrong with that picture. It's not luck, the tickets are targeted for specific locations, no one has ever won big in my town, or anywhere close to my town. I think there is something unfair about this lottery in North Carolina. The people who win big are always people all in the same area. How can that be, unless the winners are selected based on the area they live in. The wealth should be spread around, afterall, everyone in North Carolina should be given a chance to win a big jackpot. ALL the big jackpots are in counties in or around Raleigh.

@ DUGLEY2 - The odds of winning at least a breakeven prize are set at the beginning of a game when its printed, before all the winning and nonwinning tickets are distributed at random throughout the entire game. Its entirely possible to buy many tickets in a row without getting a winning ticket just as its entirely possible to get more than one winning ticket in a row. Sometimes it only takes one ticket. I have just discovered your outstanding/brilliant decision to to change the Wednesday drawing from giving just one player the opportunity to win $2500 to giving five players the opportunity to win $500 each. I would strongly recommend you begin to promote the new program change immediately. This would give players the opportunity to develop their playing strategy before they use all their points chasing the elusive $2500 Wednesday drawing.
